New AoF builds released

Since our latest news update, there have been new AoF builds for Cupcake and Froyo. Visit the download section to give them a try.

The Cupcake build includes following changes:

Improved GPS timestamps (Michael)
Updated APN list from Cyanogenmod (scarhill)
WMIConfig for boosting WiFi power (Niels)
Improved backup script (Teodor, ran)

The same changes have been implemented to Froyo, with in addition:

GPRS fix (scarhill)
Bluetooth, sound an performance improvements (ran)
Freeze fixes (ran)
Improved battery status indication (ran)
CMUX fix (panicking)

Now available: AoF on SD only

Thanks to work by Christian Rüb and Ran it is now possible to build an AoF Cupcake or Froyo version that runs entirely from an SD. So it will not reinstall Qi etc.

This also means you can have another FR distribution in NAND next to a working AoF on SD.

Packager part of Installer branch

A packaging script was added to the installer branch. The script creates the installation tarball for you, like the ones you can download from the project page. It can be used for creating Cupcake and Froyo installation packages.

Installer Build fixed

Thanks to Sebkuemmel, the installer branch of AoF is now fixed. Instructions for downloading and compiling are available here.

The installer branch contains the uImage kernel images used during installation and the qi bootloader. These files are part of the installation tarball.

New news section

I have added a news feed to the project front page. The feed comes from a project blogg on blogger. This makes it easier to post news on the front page when we need it.

Release candidate 1 for 0.2.0 available

We have just uploaded a release candidate for 0.2.0 we hope to be able to release 0.2.0 before FOSDEM '10 in Brussels where we will be holding a talk on Sunday. So please test it so we can make the best release possible. A list of changes done since 0.1.1 is available here.

Security problem in all versions older then week 2009-04 of android-on-freerunner

It has come to our attention that adb is accessible on the WiFi? network interface. This means that other people can access all files on the freerunner if you connect to a WiFi? network. We hope to fix this as soon as possible.

This problem is fixed in latest weeklies and in the new RC for version 0.2.0
